The growing awareness that there is much energy-related knowledge available within the universities of Groningen (University of Groningen & Hanze University of Applied Science) that could be used to everyone’s benefit lead to the foundation of this Energy Community of Young Researchers. Enthousiasts from various fields now have a platform where they can organize as PhD candidates in an inclusive network for young energy researchers of all disciplines. Goals: to get to know who are the other young energy researchers, meet up, and organize activities for professional development and shared benefit (and of course, share some good times along the way).

The Energy Community hosts regular meet-ups presenting a speaker on energy-related topics, discuss relevant topics, interact, get to know each other on a personal and professional level, broaden your network and knowledge and of course have some free drinks & snacks and fun along the way.

Today’s speaker: Dr Klaas-Jan Noorman, recently appointed lector in Energy Transition at Hanze UAS.

Dr. Klaas Jan Noorman is appointed Energy Transition professor Hanze UAS, Institute of Engineering and operates within the context of the Center of Expertise Energy to further shape the research implemented in the field of the energy transition. The research group Energy focuses on the development of hybrid systems, system integration and new collaboration models. Klaas Jan holds a PhD in Environmental Studies for future (sustainable) energy scenarios and opportunities for the economy. He has worked as the Manager of Research & Education with Energy Valley Foundation and Energy Academy Europe-organisation as an independent consultant and has a track record and network built around the circular economy and sustainability issues.
