Follow Energy

Date: Thursday, 11 October 2018
Time: 15:00 – 16:30 h
Location: Aula of the Van Doorenveste, Zernikeplein 11

This is a public event open to everyone interested to join, free of any costs

Nature nearly always uses as little energy and materials as possible, has amazing accuracy, simultaneously optimizes different functions at once, recycles most materials and, therefore, is the inventor of efficiency and sustainability. Sounds like the best partner we can get in the energy transition!

Explore the ways in which nature can inspire (biomimicry) or even participate in design (biodesign). Join our Energy lecture, where Product designer Ermi van Oers will tell you more about the Living Light project! In which they focus on combining design, science and technology to create a world where plants become part of our energy system; developing a lamp that is powered by photosynthesis.

Learn more about the wisdom of nature and the role of bio design in the energy transition. Whether you are more interested in science, technology, design or behaviour. This lecture will show you that it all comes together in the Living Light project!

Ermi van Oers

Ermi van Oers (1991) graduated Cum Laude at Willem de Kooning Academy in 2016, where she studied product design. In the last year of her study, she focussed on the connection between human, nature and technology with her ‘Living Light’ projects, in which she works together with Plant-e. You may know her from TEDx Talk or from the television show De Toekomstbouwers, about young innovators building towards a better future.

It is defined as an Energy Learning Activity for students of the Hanze UAS and the University of Groningen. Students are invited to attend as many Energy Learning Activities as they want, at all stages of their education.
Energy Learning Activities are part of the Energy Academy Europe Certificate. If students follow 10 Energy Learning Activities and also complete 30 ECTS in energy courses at Hanze UAS or the University of Groningen, they are eligible for obtaining the EAE Certificate.
