Energy Academy Europe (EAE) is very pleased to announce that Dr Doug Arent has joined the EAE International Advisory Board.

Doug Arent is Executive Director of the Joint Institute for Strategic Energy Analysis (JISEA) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in the United States. JISEA provides leading, objective, high-impact research and analysis to guide global energy investment and policy decisions. Focused on the nexus of energy, finance, and society, JISEA wants to contribute to the transformation of the global energy economy.
Other responsibilities of Dr Arent include: Sr. Visiting Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies; Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences Steering Committee on Social Science and the Alternative Energy Future; and Member of the National Research Council Committee to Advise to U.S. Global Change Research Program.

He is Editor in Chief for Renewable Energy Focus and also Associate Editor for the journal Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews and is a member of the International Advisory Board for the journal Energy Policy.

Arent serves on the World Economic Forum Future of Electricity Working Group and was a Coordinating Lead Author for the 5th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
His research interests are centered in energy and sustainability, where he has been active for more than 30 years. He has published extensively on topics of clean energy, renewable energy, power systems, natural gas, and the intersection of science and public policy. Arent has a Ph.D. from Princeton University, an MBA from Regis University, and a bachelor’s of science from Harvey Mudd College in California.
The International Advisory Board (IAB) serves as an advisory body to the Management Board of the EAE. Current Chair of the IAB is Ms Joan MacNaughton. Information on the current composition of the IAB can be found here

The IAB will convene in Groningen, in the new Energy Academy building, on 8 and 9 December for its periodic meeting with the EAE Management Board to discuss strategic matters regarding the development of the EAE and interact with EAE strategic partners.
